Criteo Product Feed β Catalog for Retargeting and Performance Advertising
The Criteo Product Feed extension exports your store's catalog to Criteo (criteo.com, Management Center dashboard) β a major ad network focusing on dynamic retargeting and product performance advertising. Based on the feed, Criteo:
- displays banners with specific products from your store to visitors who have already browsed the catalog but haven't purchased (retargeting);
- runs performance campaigns with pay-for-results across its entire network of websites, apps, and partners;
- automatically selects the most relevant products for each user.
Checkout takes place on your store's storefront website. The feed serves as a product data source (prices, availability, photos, links) for Criteo ad creatives. Usually, along with the feed, a Criteo tag/pixel is installed on the website to collect behavioral data β it is provided by your Criteo manager.
The extension operates on a feed-based model without API keys: the platform generates a public product feed in Google Product Feed format (Criteo accepts this schema) and continuously updates it. You provide the feed URL in your Criteo settings.
Step 1. Connecting in Cenaly and Feed Link
- Open the App Store (
admin.menio.ru/app-store) and go to the "By location" tab. - Select the desired location.
- Find the "Criteo Product Feed" card and click "Connect".
- The card will display the feed URL in XML and CSV formats with copy buttons. URL format:
https://cdn.menio.ru/feeds/criteofeed/{account-id}/{location-id}.xml(and.csv). - Copy the required link.
The feed is built from the location catalog (retail mode) and updates automatically when items, prices, and stock levels change. Variations are exported as separate items with a shared item_group_id.
Step 2. Submitting the Feed to Criteo
Unlike self-service dashboards, working with Criteo often goes through a dedicated manager or partner, but the feed URL is added the same way β in the catalog feed management section:
- In the Criteo Management Center dashboard, open the catalog/feed section (Catalog / Feed settings).
- Add a new data source by URL (feed by URL).
- Paste the feed link from Step 1 (XML is recommended), specify the catalog currency and country.
- Set up an automatic fetch schedule and save. If a Criteo manager sets up the feed β send them the copied link to the XML feed and the parameters (currency, country).
- Make sure the Criteo tag (provided by Criteo) is installed on the storefront website β it is required for retargeting.
Criteo will load the feed and match items with the tag data; then the catalog undergoes verification/integration on Criteo's side.
The Criteo interface and connection process depend on the account type β refer to the catalog feed settings section and the upload by URL option; when working with a manager, simply share the feed link with them.
Which Format to Choose: XML or CSV
Criteo accepts both. XML is preferred for variations and multiple images; CSV is convenient for manual inspection. Check with your Criteo manager for the preferred format for your account β when in doubt, use XML.

How Criteo Fetches the Feed
Criteo downloads the feed itself on a schedule from the specified URL. For retargeting, up-to-date prices and availability are essential, so the recommended frequency is at least once a day, and more frequently for stores with frequent changes. The platform updates the feed automatically, so the data is up to date with every download.
Requirements and Common Issues
- Working product links.
linkmust lead to an accessible product page β enable the web catalog (the location's showcase website), otherwise creatives will lead nowhere. - Photos are required. Without
image_link, the item will not appear in the banner. - Criteo tag on the website. Without the tag installed, retargeting does not collect an audience β coordinate the installation with your Criteo manager.
- Currency and country. Must match the settings of your Criteo account.
- Data consistency. Price and availability in the feed must match the product page β discrepancies degrade campaign quality.
- Description and name. Fill in the text fields β product recommendation relevance depends on them.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does Criteo differ from Google/Meta?
Criteo specializes in dynamic retargeting and performance advertising across its network of websites and apps β showing previously viewed items via "retargeting" banners. The feed schema is the same (Google Product Feed).
Is this paid?
The extension is paid and enabled per location. You pay Criteo for advertising according to your model (usually per result/click).
Do I need a tag on the website?
Yes, for retargeting, Criteo requires its tag/pixel on the storefront website. The feed provides item data, while the tag tracks user behavior.
Do I need to export the feed manually?
No. The platform updates the feed automatically, and Criteo downloads it on a schedule.
Items are not showing up β why?
Usually: missing photos, unavailable links (web catalog not enabled), Criteo tag not installed, currency/country mismatch, or discrepancies between feed data and the product page.
